We have carefully scheduled our day camps with your child in mind.  From half day to full day offerings, we are looking to develop all types of skills and offer lots of ways for our summer campers to have a great time. We are proud to offer summer camps that will actively encourage play, skill building, and creativity all summer long.

Camper Sign In & Sign Out:
Camper Sign In & Sign Out will be moved to our North Soccer Field (click here to see a map) to allow for 1.) more social distancing & 2.) one-way traffic among all campers and parents. All parents will be asked the following screening questions prior to drop off and must answer NO for the camper to be accepted into camp.

  • Have you or anyone in your house traveled to another country in the last 14 days?
  • Have you been in contact with someone under investigation for, or with a confirmed case of coronavirus?
  • Have you or a family member been instructed to self-quaratine?
  • Are you experiencing symptoms of illness? If so, what are the symptoms?

In order to practice social distancing, Camp Morning Sign-In is extended to 8:30am - 9:00am
In order to practice social distancing, Camp Afternoon Sign-Out is extended to 3:30pm - 4:00pm

Reduced Capacity
Camp has limited overall capacity for this summer and will be following the state and local guidelines of no more than 9 campers per camp group.  Example:  Discover Camp has been limited to 36 campers per session and all campers will be separated into 4 groups of 9 throughout the entire week and will social distance from all other camp groups.

Social Distancing
Campers will remain in their Camp Group of 9 or less campers and social distance from all other Camp Groups.

When Indoors, only one camp group will be allowed into a meeting space (Board Room, Racquetball Court, Climbing Wall, Craft Room, Pottery Room, Party Room, etc.) at a time.  The only exception to this will be our large gyms, camp shelters and event center.  Our gyms, camp shelters, and event center will have dividers that are at least six-foot-tall to keep groups separated.

Camp staff will encourage campers to social distance as much as possible within their camp group but please understand that social distancing within their camp group will not be possible during certain activities.  All campers and staff will sanitize routinely (every hour) and before and after participating in an activities where social distancing is not possible.

When possible, seating arrangements at a table will include one child at the head and food of each table, spacing children out.  Please note: This may not always be possible.

Face Masks
Campers are encouraged but will not be mandated to wear face masks.  Countryside YMCA will not mandate Camp Staff to wear masks for the following stated exemptions:

When there exists a practical reason for inhibiting a Camp Staff Member from wearing a mask such as in extreme heat, or when Camp Staff Members need a clear line of communication for safety reasons.

When the wearing of a mask is against documented industry best practices

Temperature Checks
Temperature checks are required for ALL campers and camp staff prior to checking into camp and once again in the afternoon.  Campers and camp staff with a fever of 100 or higher will be sent home.

If a temperature presents, we will double check with a traditional thermometer before sending home.  If sent home, the camper or staff will not be allowed back into camp until symptom and fever free for 48 hours.

All equipment will be sanitized between use of different groups.
Example:  Group 1 is in the Lower Level Gym playing dodgeball, all campers and staff will sanitize before and after playing dodgeball and all dodgeballs will be sanitized before the group exits the gym.

For supplies that are difficult to sanitize (example: crayons) campers will be given their own set and be asked to not share.  You are welcome and encouraged to send your camper with their own crayons in a Ziplock bag with their name labeled on the bag.

Field Trips:
All large field trips have been cancelled for summer 2020.  Camp Countryside is still moving forward with off site camps (Ex: Golf, Bowling, etc.) and High Adventure field trips will be permitted.  When traveling off site by bus:

  • Campers and staff will social distance
  • Camp Staff will be required to wear masks
  • Campers will be encouraged to wear masks
  • Buses and Vans will be sanitized after every use.

High Adventure Field Trips
Capacity will be limited
High Adventure Camp will social distance from all public groups and in most cases, we are securing private reservations to insure that our group will be the only group booked on the trip at a time.

No Preschool Camps in June
We have cancelled all Preschool Camps through the month of June and are looking forward to welcoming our Preschool Campers starting Week 6!

As of today, swimming in the Outdoor Pool will still be part of the afternoon schedule included as a "traditional camp activity."  We are still finalizing details with the Aquatics Department but our goal that we are working towards is having campers swim at least 3 times a week.

General camp cancellations requests must be submitted by email at least two weeks prior to the scheduled camp.  Please send all camp cancellation requests directly to JaMarcus Gibson at  Cancellations requests received within two weeks of the start of the camp will be subject to a $15 cancellation fee, plus the cost of any field trips/extra fees associated with the camp.  No refunds are given after camp has started for the week.
Special additions to our camp cancellation policy this summer:
Camp will provide full refunds for Coronavirus related cancellations. If you have any questions regarding your specific family, please contact me at
