When a loved one dies, it can seem like life will never be normal again. The world can become a blur of flowers, relatives, cards, and well-meaning visitors. This 7-week study will guide participants through the grieving process with others who are experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Quote from a past participant: “I would like to acknowledge my sincere thanks and gratitude for the Grief group at the Y. The class is judgment-free, compassionate, and caring. Students feel supported, understood, and valued. The class provides tools to support the participants in their grief process. I am honored to be part of this group.”

Memorial Tree for Traveling Through Grief Participants
In April 2022, the YMCA began offering Traveling Through Grief, a bereavement support series that meets twice a year. Since then, many individuals have walked this journey together, learning to live again after the loss of a loved one.
To honor those who have passed and to support one another in remembrance, we have designated a sycamore tree along the Mulford Nature Trail as a Memorial Tree for participants in Traveling Through Grief. This tree, planted nearly a decade ago, continues to grow strong — a living symbol of love, memory, and community.
We gather names here as a way to remember, honor, and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. This list is updated annually.
