Lifeguarding Certifications

Become certified through the American Red Cross and gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Our certification courses prepare participants for employment as professional lifeguards and meet the requirements for lifeguarding positions at Countryside YMCA and many other aquatic facilities.

Become a YMCA Lifeguard

Looking for a rewarding job with flexible hours?

Countryside YMCA offers part-time and full-time lifeguarding opportunities throughout the year. Lifeguards enjoy a fun team environment, flexible scheduling, and a free YMCA membership while helping keep our members and guests safe.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and able to pass a pre-course swim assessment. Qualified employees may be eligible to receive their Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification at no cost through YMCA employment.

Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

Earn your American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification through our blended learning course. Participants complete approximately three hours of online coursework before attending a hands-on instructor-led skills session at Countryside YMCA.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a two-year American Red Cross digital certification that meets OSHA workplace and many other regulatory requirements.
