An indoor triathlon allows you to compete in the triathlon events – swimming, biking, and running - without the impact of winter weather. For our indoor triathlon, the swim portion will be completed in our indoor 8-lane competition pool. The cycling portion will be completed in our spin studio. You do not need to bring a bike or helmet. All running will be done on treadmills in our Cardio Strength Center. For an indoor triathlon, the events are based on time, not on distance. For our indoor triathlon, you will swim 10 minutes, bike 20 minutes, and run 15 minutes.
As long as you are 15 years old or older, you are welcome to compete. Past race experience is not required.
Registration is $45 and includes a shirt and a goody bag.
The combined time for the swim, bike, and run is 45 minutes. There will also be two transitions totaling 15 minutes, so one heat takes 60 minutes. The first transition (from swimming to cycling) is ten minutes and the second transition (from cycling to running) is five minutes.
Race Day Check-In – Saturday, January 25th, 2025 4:00 p.m.
Race begins promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th, 2025
All three segments of the triathlon - swim, bike, run- will be completed back to back and the total distance you complete (laps and miles) will be recorded. You earn points based on the distance you complete in each segment. The points you earn are based on the total number of triathletes. So if there are 64 athletes, then the person who swam the farthest gets 64 points, the second gets 63, etc. This points system will also be used for the bike and run portions of the event. Your rank and score will not be final until all triathletes have finished.
Will this race be ranked?
No. Due to the race being time-based and not distance-based, overall scores cannot be calculated and this race will not count towards an overall national ranking score for the year.
Swim 10 minutes in a 25-yard lap pool, which is our competition pool. 1 lap is 50 yards or 0.0284 miles. The pool has 8 lanes, and there will be one swimmer in each lane.
Bike 20 minutes on stationary/spin bikes in our spin studio. All bikes will be calibrated the same to start each heat. Once your heat has started, you can adjust your tension and speed to your ability.
Run 15 minutes on a treadmill in our Cardio Strength Center. All treadmills will be set at a 0% incline to start each heat. Once your heat has started, you can adjust your incline and speed to your ability.
Each heat will begin with swimming. After 10 minutes of swimming and the 10-minute transition, the bike segment will begin. After 20 minutes of stationary biking and the 5-minute transition, the treadmill segment will begin. The bike and run segments will start at the end of the transition time allowed, regardless of how quickly you transition.
Transition is the time between the swim and the bike and between the bike and the run. The first transition is 10 minutes. Participants will transition through the locker rooms and into the cycle spin studio and get set up at the bike. The second transition is 5 minutes. Participants will transition from the spin studio to the treadmills in the Cardio Strength Center. Volunteers will direct racers to the available machines.
For the swim, you will need a swimsuit and goggles. Shorts, cut-offs, or T-shirts are not acceptable alternatives to a swimsuit. For the bike, you can wear tennis shoes or cycling shoes. You may also want biking shorts. For the treadmill, you will need tennis shoes. You cannot run on the treadmill without appropriate footwear.
For the swim each lap will be counted by the length of the pool. For example: when you go down and back, that will count as 2 laps. A volunteer will be stationed at each lane to count your laps so you do not need to worry about keeping track. Just keep swimming! Only full laps will be counted. For the bike and the run, volunteers will be available to record your distance based on the computerized console on each unit.
No stroke is off-limits but walking the swim section is not an option as the pool ranges from 3.5 to 14 feet deep.
No life jackets, wetsuits, floaties, paddleboards, or outside assistance is permitted.
Yes. You can use headphones during the bike and run, and in the pool if you have waterproof ones.
All heats and start times will be set prior to event day and will be communicated to you via email.
