We’ve missed you at the Y!

As we continue to reopen additional programs and activities, rest assured that your safety as well as the safety of our staff is our number one priority. Our Y will be implementing the following protocols for all members. Please watch this video and familiarize yourself with these new policies so that we can all enjoy a safe place at the Y.

If you maintained your membership with us throughout the pandemic closing of our fitness facilities, you don’t need to do anything to reactivate your membership. As long as you have your membership card or the MDOC app on your smartphone, you will be able to scan in on opening day!

If you cancelled your membership, but would like to reactivate, please email  membership@ymcastaff.org and our Welcome Center staff will reactivate your membership for you. There’s no need for you to come in, as the reactivation can be done online and by communicating via email. We want this process to be simple, safe and streamlined.

If you arrive at the Y before you reactivate your membership, you will be directed to the Welcome Center. If the Welcome Center is closed, you can still come in to exercise one time while we get your membership reactivated! To make your return to the Y simple, safe and streamlined we recommend reactivating your membership prior to your first time back to the Y.

As promised, there will be no joiner fee for returning members for the first 60 days after we reopen.

Now’s a great time to be a member of the Y because we are giving members priority to our facility and programs during this starting phase of our re-opening!  Program Members will be welcomed when their program is open and running. We will announce later when guests and reciprocal members will be able to use our facilities.

  • Members Age 16 + are welcome for fitness and lap swim.

  • Members age 12 – 15 are welcome if they are with a supervising parent or are participating in a program.

  • Swimmers between 13 and 15 years may swim laps with a supervising parent as long as they are continuously swimming laps.

  • Children under the age of 12 who want to stay indoors will have to wait just a little longer until our Child Watch area opens on June 1.

  • Children under age 5 at the outdoor pool must have an adult 18 years or older in the water within arms reach and actively involved in the supervision of the child.

  • Infants to children under 3 are certainly welcome to come and enjoy the outdoor pool and outdoor play pool with their families.

  • Age requirement guidelines will be reevaluated on a weekly basis with the goal of adding additional programs and spaces for children as we are able to do so with proper distancing and disinfecting guidelines.

Do a healthy self-check before you leave home and stay home if you are ill or you have symptoms of COVID-19.

Come to the Y with a purpose. Come to work out, lap swim, or attend a specific program. Our lobby furniture and café tables have been temporarily removed to prevent gathering for socializing.

Arrive no more than 10 minutes before your class or program begins.

Follow physical distancing
if you must stand in line before entering the Y.

Enter through the North Entrance
at Lebanon or the front Entrance at Landen. At Lebanon you will also exit through the North Entrance, but at Landen you will exit the facility through Studio A.

Have your membership card or app ready to scan for a required check-in.

Sanitize your hands upon entry. Sanitizer will be available at the entry.

Bring your own water bottle, pre-filled. Our water fountains and vending machines are closed.

Bring your own towel. Our towel service is currently discontinued.

Don’t expect to shower at the Y.  Our restrooms and girls and boys locker rooms are open, but our showers are temporarily closed.

We don’t expect you to wear a mask while you exercise, but for the health of others we encourage you to wear one in our public spaces and when you are interacting with staff. We encourage you to wear a mask as you check-in and walk the hallways, as you interact with staff, and as you exit the building. Personal masks must meet the dress code defined in the member handbook. They must be family friendly and should not have inappropriate content such as language or imagery that is vulgar, sexually explicit or otherwise offensive.  Management may enforce these standards at its discretion by asking members to remove any items considered to be inappropriate.

Wash your hands or use our sanitizing stations often. Restrooms are open, and sanitizing stations will be available at entrances, in the Cardio Strength Center, on pool decks, and in any open studios.

Participate in cleaning and disinfecting the equipment you use while at the Y. We ask that you spray down any equipment you use in the CSC or fitness studios. Our staff will then wipe the equipment. Rest assured your efforts are an addition to our cleaning protocols, which meet the guidelines from health experts and local officials.

If you are in a water fit class or swim lesson, when the class or lesson ends, you will place any YMCA equipment you use in a bin marked for disinfection.

Follow physical distancing if you are waiting for a class, equipment, or swim lap lane. Also maintain social distancing in any class. Partners exercising together and sharing equipment must maintain group segmentation from others exercising.

You’ll notice we have removed some equipment and reduced class sizes to meet the required social distance of six feet between members.
