Our YMCA is known for our pools, but now things are a little different as we adjust to the new safety standards set by the state of Ohio. We're following guidelines from health experts and local officials to ensure that our pools meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and to ensure that our staff are trained and ready to serve you.
As is always the case in our pools, your safety - and the safety of all our members, program participants, and staff - is our number one priority. Please read our revised pool policies so that we can all enjoy a safe place at the Y.
Lap swim is open with limited capacity to members and guests only. We will announce later when reciprocal members will be able to use our pools.
Please familiarize yourself with our updated pool policies so that we can all enjoy a safe place at the Y.
Now's a great time to be a member of the Y because we are giving members priority to use of our pools! We will announce later when guests and reciprocal members will be able to use our pools.
Lap Swimming is available to our members ages 16 years and older. Swimmers between 13 and 15 years may swim laps with a supervising adult as long as they are continuously swimming laps.
At this time the Instructional Pool is not available to Youth 15 years and under unless registered for a swimming lesson when swimming lessons are available.
Do a healthy self-check before you leave home and stay home if you are ill or you have symptoms of COVID-19.
Arrive at the facility wearing your swim suit ready to swim.
Enter the Y through the North entrance and have your membership card or app ready to scan for a required check-in. Entrance for the outdoor pool will be through the outdoor pool entrance only.
Follow physical distancing if you must stand in line while waiting to check-in.
Bring your own water bottle. Our no-touch water bottle fillers are working, but vending machines are closed.
Bring your own towels. Our towel service is currently discontinued.
Showering after your swim will not be possible. Our restrooms and girls and boys locker rooms are open, but our showers are temporarily closed.
Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and water or use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are not readily available, before going to the pool.
To ensure our lap swimmers have access and the opportunity to swim for fitness, please limit your lap swimming activities to 1 hour.
When you arrive at the pool to swim laps, a member of our Aquatic staff team will check you in and assist you with your lane assignment.
To maintain safe social distancing, only 2 lap swimmers per lane will be permitted. Entry to the water will alternate between the shallow and deep ends of the pool. When lap lanes are limited, 2 lap swimmers per lane will be required.
Periodically, you may have to wait for an available lap lane. If there is a wait, the Aquatic staff will assign you a specific time you may return to the pool to begin your swim.
Do not share equipment. We do have limited lap swim equipment located in the Clean/Ready to Use bins poolside. Members are encouraged to use their personal lap swim equipment. Personal lap swim equipment must be disinfected at home.
Please use the designated area along the bleachers to stow your belongings. Each lap lane has been assigned a storage area. Storage areas coincide with your assigned lap lane.
After your lap swim, please place borrowed lap swim equipment in the Used Equipment bin.
We don't expect you to wear a mask while you are in the pool, but for the health of others we encourage you to wear one if you are out of the pool and when you are interacting with staff. We encourage you to wear a mask as you check-in to the pool, exit the pool area, and in the restrooms. Personal masks must meet the dress code defined in the member handbook. They must be family friendly and should not have inappropriate content such as language or imagery that is vulgar, sexually explicit or otherwise offensive. Management may enforce these standards at its discretion by asking members to remove any items considered to be inappropriate.
Wash your hands or use our sanitizing stations often. Restrooms are open, and sanitizing stations will also be available.
Follow physical distancing. While at the pools, members must stay at least six feet apart from those they don't live with, both in and out of the water.
We will be enforcing all our other outdoor pool policies including dress code, safety and supervision, and swim tests.
