Man wearing a health mask

Watch this video to learn how it will be different at the Y now that masks are mandated.

We’re in this fight against COVID-19 together! Guidelines and requirements keep changing as we continue to learn to safely co-exist with this virus. In Ohio, masks are now mandatory when you are inside a building, which means that masks are required in all Countryside YMCA facilities.

Masks will be required at the Y for everyone 10 years old and older except*:

  • when you are actively exercising

  • while in a swimming pool

  • while seated at pool deck furniture

We are also requiring children ages 5 and older to wear masks while they are in Child Watch. Working together we can help to stop the spread of this disease.

For our staff, wearing masks isn’t new! We’ve been wearing them since day 1 of our reopening as one more layer of protection we are using to keep members as healthy as possible. Our cardio strength center and fitness classes have already been adapted to meet physical distancing guidelines. We have hand sanitizer available for use throughout our facilities, and we’re cleaning and disinfecting constantly.

We do these things because we care about the health and well-being of our members. Join us in taking another step toward healthier living: mask up when you are at the Y!

If you maintained your membership with us throughout the pandemic closing of our fitness facilities, you don’t need to do anything to reactivate your membership. As long as you have your membership card or the MDOC app on your smartphone, you can scan in! Welcome Back!

If you cancelled your membership, but would like to reactivate, please email and our Welcome Center staff will reactivate your membership for you. There’s no need for you to come in, as the reactivation can be done online and by communicating via email. We want this process to be simple, safe and streamlined.

If you arrive at the Y before you reactivate your membership, you will be directed to the Welcome Center. If the Welcome Center is closed, you can still come in to exercise one time while we get your membership reactivated! To make your return to the Y simple, safe and streamlined we recommend reactivating your membership prior to your first time back to the Y.

Update: We've had some questions recently about our rejoiner fee policy. And based on member input, we've updated the policy. Any existing member who cancels their membership on or after March 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020 can rejoin (or reinstate their membership) with no joiner fee from now through Dec. 31,2020.  If needed in December, the Y will re-evaluate this policy.

If you are 10 years old or older, wear a mask except when you are actively exercising, while in a swimming pool, or while seated at pool deck furniture.

Personal masks must meet the dress code defined in the member handbook. They must be family friendly and should not have inappropriate content such as language or imagery that is vulgar, sexually explicit or otherwise offensive.  Management may enforce these standards at its discretion by asking members to remove any items considered to be inappropriate.

Wash your hands or use our sanitizing stations often. Restrooms are open, and sanitizing stations will be available at entrances, in the Cardio Strength Center, on pool decks, and in any open studios.

Participate in cleaning and disinfecting the equipment you use while at the Y. We ask that you spray down any equipment you use in the CSC or fitness studios. Rest assured your efforts are an addition to our cleaning protocols, which meet the guidelines from health experts and local officials.

If you are in a water fit class or swim lesson, when the class or lesson ends, you will place any YMCA equipment you use in a bin marked for disinfection.

Follow physical distancing if you are waiting for a class, equipment, or swim lap lane. Also maintain social distancing in any class. Partners exercising together and sharing equipment must maintain group segmentation from others exercising.

You’ll notice we have removed some equipment and reduced class sizes to meet the required social distance of six feet between members.

If you can't find what you need in the information on this page, email and we'll get back to you soon!
