WHAT IS SMART START?

Smart Start is a program that provides you with an easy to follow plan and cutting edge tools. You will not be alone in this process. Our highly trained staff will help you set attainable goals and will provide the ongoing support necessary for your success. Smart Start is a unique, valuable service that comes with your Countryside YMCA membership. It’s a three step process that will give you the support, knowledge and useful tools you’ll need to make your experience here at the Countryside YMCA personalized and satisfying.

You will first have a discussion with your dedicated member coach regarding your goals, interests, current fitness level and other relevant information. You will work together to figure out the best options that specifically suit your needs and develop a plan on how you’d like to get started.

One the second and third meetings, your member coach will follow up with you on what’s working, what’s not, and make changes to your plan if necessary. In these two meetings, you will also have the option to receive a complimentary fitness orientation to learn about the machines in either or Starter Fitness Room or Cardio Strength Center. You will also have the option to use our state-of-the-art InBody body machine that will allow you to understand your weight in terms of muscle, fat and water and set even more specific goals if you’d like.

WHY DO I NEED THIS PROGRAM? 

Studies show that 85% of people who try an exercise program will fail. This is where we come in – we are here to help ensure your success! We know (and feel lucky!) that our YMCA has countless options when it comes to classes and programs, but we also know that sometimes the options can be overwhelming. Our member coaches are specialized in being able to point you in the right direction to ensure you will maximize your membership from the very start.
Our goal at the Countryside YMCA is for you to be 100% satisfied with your membership. We want you and to be a long term, happy member and believe Smart Start is the best way to begin your journey with us!

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

We will meet with you in three short meetings over the next 30 days. Some of these coaching sessions can even be done virtually, if you prefer.  We can take you from an exercise skeptic to a highly confident individual who is excited about working out. In less than two hours of your time you will gain the tools and resources that will help you succeed.  Here’s how…

 

Step 1:
  • Meet you dedicated member coach
  • Work with your coach to design a personalized fitness plan to help you achieve your goals
  • Schedule a time to begin your fitness journey
Step 2:
  • Discuss how your plan is working for you and make necessary changes
  • Take a free body composition analysis with our new, state of the art non-invasive InBody machine, $20 value (optional)
  • Receive an orientation on the proper way to use fitness equipment (optional) 
Step 3:
  • Review your progress
  • Make necessary changes to your plan
  • Take a second free body composition analysis with InBody, $20 value (optional)

 

 

MEET OUR MEMBER COACHES

Elizabeth is a longtime member, and began instructing Muscle Max here at Countryside YMCA in 2013. She became a Member Coach in 2017. She truly enjoys helping members discover their personal best path to wellness/fitness here at the Y. It's been an incredibly rewarding experience to help others, maintain relationships with members she has coached, and see their lives change for the better.  She's so grateful for the role of member coaching.  

 She and her husband, Matt, are raising their three children, Zachary, Charlie and Annie, and her current 'job' outside of the YMCA is being a free Uber service to their constant swirl of activities. She enjoys learning about health and fitness, cooking and spending time with friends and family. She is greatly looking forward to traveling extensively with her husband, both near and very far, once her "Ubering" days are over. 

 

Jennifer, along with her husband, Mark and three children, live in Landen and have been members of the Countryside YMCA since moving to the area in 2009. She has a communications degree from University of Cincinnati, as well as a Masters in Montessori from Xavier University. Jennifer feels her education and communication skills help her to be a bridge between a member's goal and their achievements.

She enjoys her time at the Y, and feels lucky to be able to meet so many members and hopes that they are able to learn as much from her as she does from them. She feels the YMCA has given their members such a gift by instituting Member Coaching into its membership process. There is such joy to watch a member accomplish the goals they set for themselves; it has been an extremely humbling process she shares with them. 

 

Judy is excited to return to the Y and focus on caring for individual members through the Member Coach program. Judy will also be helping out with our LIVESTRONG at the YMCA classes.

Shannon is a long time member of Countryside YMCA. Shannon along with her husband Jamie live just outside of Lebanon in Oregonia. She instructs Cycle Spin five days a week and recently became a member coach in early 2020. Shannon has three grown daughters, 6 dogs (yes, six) two cats and she loves spending time gardening and relaxing in her pool with friends and family when she has time. Shannon also works for Warren County DODD as an Individual Provider taking care of individuals with special needs. She is so excited to be a part the member coaching team. " I can't wait to work alongside members and help them thrive and grow into their wellness/fitness journey."

 

 

 

My husband Mike and I have been married almost 22 years, and I’m the mom of 4 teenage sons-Nate, Kyle, Ian, and Caden- and a sweet 4-year-old daughter, Keilah. We moved to Lebanon from Oklahoma in 2017 and have been members of the Y ever since. We’re also members of Antioch Church that meets here in the YMCA. We really enjoy living in Lebanon!

I enjoy taking group fitness classes, especially yoga and barre. I love exploring the great outdoors and spending time outside. I’m excited to help others on their fitness and health journeys!
