Not sure where to start your YMCA experience? A membership at Countryside YMCA includes complimentary coaching with a personal Member Coach. Over the course of four to six months, your coach will help match you up with the resources and programs that meet your goals, interests, and lifestyle. Together, you'll make a plan build on activities that you'll enjoy. This individualized attention will help you learn about yourself and the Y, getting you better connected and active. Your coach will help make Countryside YMCA's large facility feel personal.
After having surgery and chemo, I received several physical therapies to help regain my balance and walking. I selected the YMCA and met Member Coach, Gale Kernitz who listened to my goals, suggested water aerobics and walking. I have improved greatly and while gaining more balance have made many friends. Due to my improvements, I have been able to check off goals on my bucket list. So keep up the good work all you wonderful people at the YMCA. Elizabeth is a longtime member, and began instructing Muscle Max here at Countryside in 2013. She became a Member Coach in 2017. She truly enjoys helping members discover their personal best path to wellness/fitness here at the Y. It's been an incredibly rewarding experience to help others, maintain relationships with members she has coached, and see their lives change for the better. She's so grateful for the role of member coaching.
She and her husband, Matt, are raising their three children, Zachary, Charlie and Annie, and her current 'job' outside of the YMCA is being a free Uber service to their constant swirl of activities. She enjoys learning about health and fitness, cooking and spending time with friends and family. She is greatly looking forward to traveling extensively with her husband, both near and very far, once her "Ubering" days are over.
Cara has been coaching and instructing at Countryside YMCA for more than ten years. She is an ACE nationally certified Personal Trainer and Health Coach, and has certifications in Nutrition, Balance, and Diabetes and Chronic Disease management, where she also trains and certifies new instructors. Cara also holds certifications including Barre, Zumba, and Silver Sneakers. Cara coaches and instructs because she has a genuine passion for helping people lead healthy and happy lives, and enjoys meeting and interacting with others, sharing their journey.
Cara has a loving husband, James, and four wonderful sons, David, Michael, Patrick, and Mark, who grew up here in Lebanon. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, raising monarch butterflies, crocheting and kitting, baking, and international cooking. Cara has been interested and active in healthy living all her life and is fortunate to make it her occupation as well as avocation.
Jennifer, along with her husband, Mark and three children, live in Landen and have been members of the Countryside YMCA since moving to the area in 2009. She has a communications degree from University of Cincinnati, as well as a Masters in Montessori from Xavier University. Jennifer feels her education and communication skills help her to be a bridge between a member's goal and their achievements. She enjoys
her time at the Y, and feels lucky to be able to meet so many members and hopes that they are able to learn as much from her as she does from them. She feels the YMCA has given their members such a gift by
instituting Member Coaching into its membership process. There is such joy to watch a member accomplish the goals they set for themselves; it has been an extremely humbling process she shares with them.
