American Red Cross Lifeguarding Recertification

Renew your American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification at the YMCA and stay current on the skills needed to help keep guests safe and respond confidently during aquatic emergencies. This course is designed for lifeguards with a current or recently expired certification.

The YMCA offers both part-time and full-time lifeguard positions, seasonally and year-round. Participants must meet all recertification requirements and successfully complete a pre-course swim skills assessment.

Course Schedule

(Participants must attend all sessions)

Sunday: 11:00am–6:00pm
Monday: 5:00–9:00pm

Course Format & Requirements

  • Blended learning course (online + in-person)
  • Approximately 6–7 hours of online coursework must be completed before the first in-person session
  • Online modules include videos and quizzes
  • Participants will receive an email from the American Red Cross with instructions once enrolled

Prerequisites

  • Must hold a current or recently expired American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
  • Must successfully complete all pre-course swim skills
  • Must be able to attend all in-person sessions
  • Participants who do not meet prerequisites will not be permitted to continue for safety reasons

Certification Renewal

Participants who successfully complete all requirements will receive renewed American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification, recognized nationwide.
