Little girls in tutu skirts before a ballet dance recital

Join in one of the largest dance programs around at the Y

Here at the Countryside YMCA, we are proud to offer one of the largest recreational dance programs in our area. Whether your dancer is here for one session, or ends up staying for years, we are here to guide, instruct and help your dancer thrive in a non-competitive dance environment. Recreational dance programming allows for a lower stress environment, learning at a slower pace, while still allowing students to learn different types of dance while having fun.

There are so many good reasons to dance!

Dance classes at the Y are a wonderful experience for kids and adults. Whether they are in ballet, tap, clogging, jazz, latin fusion or pop hip hop, they'll have fun and get a workout in, too. Through our dance classes, children gain physical strength, flexibility, and coordination. For adults, it's an opportunity to get moving and learn a new skill, or rediscover something from their childhood. Dance is amazing for memory and balance, as well as strength and toning. In learning any dance style, our students are also learning to express themselves creatively. In dance classes students are encouraging one another and practicing together, which allows for new friendships to start, and some can last a lifetime.

So many dance options to try at the Y!

We are excited to be able to offer so many classes in different styles of dance throughout the year. Please check our online listing for days and times of our various listings, we have something offered almost every day! Our instructors are knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share their love of dance with our students of all ages. From PreBallet 1 to Advanced Jazz, Clogging and Tap, we’re sure there’s something for everyone, at every age.

Our dance classes are progressive, which means students learn routines during the classes and have the chance to perform twice through the year, if registered in time. Continual registration is required for performances. If you have an interest in dance, and you would like more information, please contact  Jaime Spurlock at 923 1424 ext. 226.
