At Countryside YMCA, keeping everyone safe around the water is our highest priority. We have a testing system for all youth swimmers (0-12 years old) to determine what water features it’s safe for them to use. We use a colored wristband system to guarantee supervision requirements are being met.
Any child under 5 years old must wear a red wristband and requires adult supervision whenever they are in a YMCA pool. Children need to be at least 6 years old and 45 inches tall to take the swim test. If a child does not meet the requirements or chooses not to take the swim test, they will receive a yellow wristband and must remain in shallow water.
Before coming to use the YMCA pool, please preview this video and prepare your child for the swim test. For more details about the swim test, wristbands, and general pool policies, read the membership guide.
