Swim lessons at Countryside YMCA help children and adults learn basic water skills, improve swimming skills, practice water safety and learn water rescue skills. Of course, we have fun in the process. Swim lessons are progressive and class sizes are small so children and adults get the personalized swim instruction they need to build vital skills and prepare for the next program level.

Adult swim lessons are an opportunity for older teens and adults to learn to swim in a smaller class setting. You'll learn to swim at your own pace, so you can advance from basic swimming skills to more advanced swimming skills during this swim instruction.

What to Expect from Adult and Teen Swim Lessons

Basic, beginner swimming lessons are designed to help you learn how to swim and also learn basic water safety. When you take our classes, you can be confident that classes are small and you’ll receive the personal attention that you deserve.

Offered to older teens and adults, our classes are designed to be at your own pace and will:

  • - Cover basic swimming
  • - Progressing to advanced swimming skills

Each class will build off the last class, allowing you to revisit the skills you learned. The classes will teach you how to float and eventually swim in the water at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

How to Prepare for Swimming Lessons

Adult swim lessons are a popular class. Many adults want to learn how to swim because it’s a skill they didn’t learn when they were younger. Preparing for your first lesson is simple:

  • - Show up early
  • - Don’t eat right before class
  • - Bring your bathing suit
  • - Buy goggles, especially if you have contacts

Learning to swim can be a really fun activity, so remember to relax during your lesson and focus on what your swim instructor is trying to teach you. We are here to help!
