Lebanon, OH – From August 16 through August 29 adult fitness classes at both Countryside YMCA locations are free. Try TRX, Boxing, Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Muscle Max, Spin Cycle and more.
With hundreds of programs offered annually, there's always something to try. The Y offers classes specifically for beginners, as well as classes for those with an established workout routine. "I would encourage members to come in and take advantage of the chance to try something new for free," said Chuck Wene Countryside YMCA Director of Fitness.
Three of the Y's most popular classes, Muscle Max, Cycle Spin, and Zumba will all be part of the free fitness options. These classes offer participants a variety of movement, flexibility, dance and strength training. "The instructors do a nice job of making our members feel welcome and comfortable in all our classes," said Wene.
Two new classes will also be open for people to try. Yogalates combines yoga and Pilates and uses breath work. Yoga results in muscle stretching, lengthening and strengthening. Pilates adds core-targeted sequences to create muscle tone and stabilize other major muscle groups. This class will be held Wednesdays from 6:30p.m.-7:30p.m.
Functional fitness is a fast paced class where participants will learn exercises that train their body for activities like sports as well as daily life movements. Movements such as walking, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, lunging, and core exercises will be the focus of this class available Mondays from 7:15a.m. - 8:05a.m. and Wednesdays from 7:15a.m. -8:05a.m.
"We are always looking for the latest and greatest equipment and programs to offer our members while also giving them opportunities to connect with others," said Wene.
Not sure where to start? New members can participate in the Y's complimentary Smart Start program, which involves working one-on-one with a coach to develop a personalized wellness plan that fits their goals, interests, and lifestyle. This is followed by periodical check-ins to discuss a variety of wellness topics that will provide the guidance and support needed to meet personal health and fitness goals.
The Y has continued to maintain many of the health guidelines put in place during the height of the pandemic and they also installed $10,000 worth of Puradigm air filters throughout the facility. "We believe in healthy living, and we care about our members and guests. We work hard every day to provide a clean, safe facility because we understand how important exercise is to physical and mental health, and we want to meet that need for everyone," said Chris Johnson Countryside YMCA CEO.
"We work every day to improve the wellbeing of people in our community by providing resources and guidance to improve physical activity, health and wellness," he added. "Offering free fitness classes is just one more way to to empower people in their efforts toward healthy living," he added.
