Personal Trainer & Member Service Associate

  • Reports to:  Jim German

  • Primary Job Responsibilities:  Personal Trainer

    • Our Personal Trainers provide customized fitness programs to our members while educating and guiding them on proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, resistance training and attaining a healthier lifestyle. Members sign up with a personal trainer to be motivated, educated, and held accountable while working towards their fitness goals. You must be punctual and prepared for all appointments with clients or staff meetings, and passionate about fitness and coaching others with purpose while providing excellent customer service.

  • Primary Job Responsibilities - Member Service:

    • You will greet members and helps them connect with each other and the YMCA

    • You contribute to a positive, inviting environment while coaching members to support their desired behavior change

    • You conduct FitLinxx orientations and manage the cash register.

    • You will enter current and new member information into our database for memberships and program sales

    • You may be asked to help with special events for our annual campaign fundraising activities.

  • Minimum Requirements:18 years of age with a High school degree or equivalent. You should have member service skills and be computer literate with data input skills. Personal trainers must hold a current CPR/AED Certification and basic First Aid knowledge (short grace period is offered) along with a current Nationally Recognized Personal Trainer Certification.

  • Hours and Days: You can expect 25-30 hours weekly with potential afternoon/evening shifts and occasional weekends. Personal training (10-15 hours weekly) will be pre-scheduled and paid at a different hourly rate than Member Service responsibilities (15 hours weekly).

Child Watch Attendant

  • Reports to:  Cindy Stith, Child Watch Supervisor
  • Hours and Days: 10-15 hours per week, Monday-Friday evenings, Saturday mornings plus Landen Special Events including Kid Movie Nights
  • Main area of responsibility: The Child Watch Assistant is responsible for the safety and well being of the children in the Child Watch area of the Landen facility. Your responsibility is to emphasize quality childcare standards through activities and interaction with the YMCA participants.
  • Requirements:  Minimum 16 years of age, with strong member service skills plus prior experience supervising children. Certification required:  CPR-First Aid-AED certification  (YMCA will provide)

Fitness Instructor (Muscle Max) 

  • Reports to:  Jasmine Lee
  • Hours and Days: Seeking instructor for classes on Monday 5:30-6: 20 am and Thursday 5:30-6: 20 am
  •  Main area of responsibility: Muscle Max is one of our most popular group fitness classes and offered many times throughout the week. It is a 5 week, choreographed strength-based fitness class. This fitness instructor position is also required to attend five 90-minute in house trainings on a Sunday afternoon throughout the year to learn the new upcoming routines.
  • Requirements: 
    • Nationally Accredited Certification: ACE, AFAA, and NASM preferred or YMCA group fitness certification 
    • Current CPR Certification
    • HS diploma or GED 
    • Minimum of six months prior teaching experience
    • Ability to teach a variety of group fitness formats

Cardio Strength Center Instructor / Desk Assistant

  • Department: Landen 
  • Reports to:  Jim German
  • Hours and Days: 10-15 hours per week.  M-F hours will fall between 9 am - 6 pm plus 1-2 shifts every other weekend.  
  • Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to conducting FitLinxx orientations, completing daily cleaning assignments and creating connections and fostering relationships with members. Must conduct potential member tours, sell new memberships, and complete Front Desk administrative operations.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, exceptional member service skills, previous customer service and/or fitness experience. Must possess a sound knowledge of fitness and have basic computer and data input skills. Administrative skills to include completing forms, tracking, and filing, managing a cash register and basic financial transactions.
