The true power of the Y is in the hearts and actions of every neighbor who believes in our vision of a stronger community for all. Thanks to the generosity of our members, volunteers and donors, we are able to provide lifesaving swimming lessons, a safe, nurturing space for kids to learn and grow during out of school time, and outreach to families and individuals who are feeling isolated.
The Y has been strengthening communities for 179 years! The YMCA was founded as the Young Men's Christian Association in London England on June 6, 1844 by George Williams and 11 of his friends. The Y started because a young person discovered their reason why.
The mission of the YMCA is to put Christian principles into practice that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We bring that mission to life by identifying the needs of the community and then finding ways we can meet those needs.
